SUMMARY:
Viakable Manufacturing is a producer of electrical wire and cable located in LaSalle, Illinois. This position reports directly to the Plant Director and indirectly to the Director of Human Resources at CME Wire & Cable. The role is responsible for the administration Human Resources the plant. Given that a large percentage of the employees in the organization speak Spanish, this position will require someone that is bilingual at an advanced level.
- Obtain all payroll data from managers and employees.
- Preparing payroll: collecting missing hours from managers, tracking paid time off, making necessary changes
- Recruiting activities at a local level to include: posting job ads, scheduling/conducting job screenings
- background checks
- reference checks, setting up physicals and scheduling pre-employment drug tests
- making hiring recommendations to operations manager
- collecting disciplinary documentation
- benefit enrollment
- ensuring all workers compensation forms are completed at time of injury and appropriate people are informed.
- terminations
- verification of employment (eVerify)
- safety meetings
- Pulling as needed HR reports for the Plant Director, Operations Manager
- Completing monthly reporting for HR corporate
- Disputing unemployment claims
- Ensuring forklift certifications are being completed as needed
- Ensuring ALL new hires and temps are trained on Lockout-Tagout & JSA's for their department
- Immediately inform and pass on any of the following topics to the Plant Director and HR: legal matters, OSHA complaints, EEOC issues, employee relations related to discrimination or sexual harassment, etc.
Additionally this role will assist the Plant Director on various administrative tasks, projects, and activities.
- OSHA 30 certification a BIG plus
- STRONG understanding of the Illinois Valley communities and overcoming its retention challenges
- High level of communication skills - written, spoken (Spanish & English)
- Working on or obtained a Bachelor's degree with a focus in HR, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Psychology, Social Work)
- 1-2 years of high volume recruiting
- 2-5 years administrative assistant experience supporting senior executives
- 2+ years in a manufacturing environment
- 2-5+ years of HR Generalist experience
- 2-5 years of Paycor, Paychex or other online payroll experience.
- PHR preferred or SHRM certification preferred
